College of Engineering and Technology of Southwest University (CET) was founded in 1958. Her precursor is Department of Agricultural Mechanization of Southwest Agricultural College. She has a contingent of 87 staffs with well-knit work, of which 30 are full time professors or associate professors, 60 possess doctor’s degree or master’s degree. At present, there are more than 2000 undergraduates, PhD candidates or graduate students enrolled in the college.

The CET offers 7 bachelor's degree programs, 4 master's degree programs, 2 Engineering master programs, and 1 doctor's degree program. Related disciplines cover Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Science, Automation, Civil Engineering, etc., and one of them is the key discipline in Chongqing.

The CET pays attention to scientific research with extensive interests: Modern Design Method, Digital Design & Manufacturing, Information Technology in Manufacturing Industry, Intelligent Inspection, Mechanical-electronic Engineering, Automatic Control Technology and its Equipments, Vehicle Vibration and Noise Control, Numerical Simulation of Inner Combustion Engine, Image Processing, Near Infrared Spectroscopy Analysis, Agricultural Mechanization Development Strategy and Planning, Agricultural Machinery Design and Experimental Research, Equipments of Modern Agriculture, Agriculture Information and Intelligent Decision Support System, Agricultural Products Desiccation and Processing, Modern Building Material, Building Constructing Technique, Eco-design of Civil Architecture, Country Built Environment, Protected Agriculture and Country Energy, etc.

The CET also pays attention to practical teaching. The hardware and software of laboratories of the college continuously make progress. There are 2 university-level labs, more than 13000 m2, i.e., Engineering Experiment Teaching Center and Lab of Electrical and Electronics Technology with integrated and advanced practical teaching instruments or equipments.
